When we considered offering Kit Carson’s very popular aluminum M16® design in a more affordable build, we turned to our very successful InterFrame construction.

Instead of aluminum handles, we use tough, textured Zytel® scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame. We overbuild it for rigidity, using precision-machined stainless steel back spacers. And we assemble the handle with superior offset Torx® fasteners.
The handle is slightly heftier and wider than our aluminum build M16, but it is exceptionally rigid. To some of us, it actually fills the hand better.
We use our tough AUS 4 high-carbon stainless steel for the blades to give greater everyday utility, and offer both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges. All models feature the Carson Flipper, which is not only an aid to opening the blade, especially when wearing gloves, but acts as a blade guard when the blade is open

M16®-12ZER is a special version of Kit Carson’s very successful Zytel InterFrame M16 series. It feature brushed blade finishes for maximum corrosion resistance, Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges for fast cutting through rope, cord and foliage, and high visibility orange Zytel® scales. The M16®-12ZER is a tough little bulldog, with a dual grind Tanto-style blade giving exceptional strength.

This Knife is small and light enough to allow for a variety of carry positions in the pocket, on belts, or on equipment. We’ve incorporated our exclusive patented* AutoLAWKS™ automatic knife safety into both M16-ER models, which automatically converts them into virtual fixed blades when their blades are open and locked
